Brings Company Extensive Background in RF Design and UWB Technology
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2006--Alereon, Inc., the foremost provider of complete solutions for WiMedia ultrawideband (UWB) applications, announces it has selected Dr. David Shoemaker as vice president of engineering and operations. In this position, he will oversee the company's engineering operations and manufacturing relationships. He brings the company more than a decade of industry expertise in RF, analog, and ASIC architectures, as well as software and system design.

Prior to joining the company, Dr. Shoemaker was vice president of engineering for TZero Technologies, where he was responsible for managing a 45-person team focused on designing solutions for wireless UWB. His role at TZero was to lead the development of a multiple-chip wireless system involving RF, mixed-signal and ASIC components and software and video applications. Prior to his tenure at TZero, Dr. Shoemaker was director of engineering at RF Micro Devices, where he managed an 80-person organization including design teams in San Jose, Belgium and Russia.
In other previously held positions, Dr. Shoemaker acted as both manager and developer in all phases of design from architecture to production ramp at companies such as Engim and Texas Instruments. In addition to his leadership in design expertise, he is the author of several papers and patents addressing wireless architecture and design.
Dr. Shoemaker holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he later earned his doctorate degree.
