Intel and Mobilian Wireless Veteran Adds Depth to Alereon Technical Team
Austin, TX, November 10, 2003 - Alereon, an Ultra wideband (UWB) semiconductor company focused on chipsets for the personal area networking market, today announced that Jim Lansford, Ph.D. joined the company as chief technology officer. Dr. Lansford brings more than 25 years of wireless experience to Alereon, most recently serving as chief technology officer at Mobilian, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in multi-standard chipsets for the WLAN and WPAN markets. Prior to Mobilian, Dr. Lansford served in a senior position in Intel?s communications architecture lab.

Dr. Lansford played a critical role at Mobilian, helping to shape the IEEE Recommended Practice for coexistence between WLAN and WPAN devices (802.15.2). Lansford also was active in development of the 802.11g standard. At Intel, he served as chair of the Technical Committee of the Home RF Industry Working group and led the development of the specification for the HomeRF solution. Dr. Lansford also performed technical due diligence on WPAN, WLAN, and WWAN investment candidates for Intel. He served as president of a wireless consulting company in Colorado and as chief technical officer, founder and board member of another wireless networking startup in Colorado. Dr. Lansford previously worked for Georgia Technology Research Institute and Harris Corporation for approximately nine years developing RF and DSP-based communications systems.
Dr. Lansford received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University, his MSEE from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his BSEE from Auburn University.
