The Alereon Worldwide Wireless USB Mini Docking Station reference design kit (RDK) is a turn-key manufacturing kit that provides wireless graphics, isochronous audio and 2 USB ports to wirelessly connect PCs to standard monitors, projectors or displays, speakers and external devices. The mini docking station supports DVI or VGA output for resolutions up to 1680x1050 and 16.7 million colors with smooth DVD video playback. 2.1 stereo audio support is provided by 3.5 mm speaker/microphone jacks. The Worldwide Wireless USB mini docking station assures worldwide capability delivering the full potential of Wireless USB and is compatible with any Certified Wireless USB PC or host adapter.

Featuring an Alereon AL5000 chipset, the Worldwide Wireless USB Mini Docking Station exceeds WiMedia and Certified Wireless USB requirements. The Mini Docking Station features a high performance video engine optimized for an Alereon AL5000 chipset. The adaptive compression scheme coupled with ultra-low latency allows for a highly interactive user experience. In addition, the Mini Docking Station provides true bi-directional isochronous support to insure the proper scheduling of real time audio data traffic required for video playback, webcams and digital camcorders.

Complete Software Support

In addition to full design support, the Worldwide Wireless Mini Dock includes a complete API and example drivers for Windows XP/Vista operating systems. The device availability determines the type, resolution and key features of the display upon connection, ensuring a fast setup. Diagnostic software tools for design verification and test purposes are provided to insure fast bring-up, validation, and quick time-to-market. All required drivers, design files, and documentation are also included.
